Run Moorhold on AWS
Moorhold works on Amazon Web Services, using the same installer as every other provider. It costs several times as much as the EU providers, and takes more steps in the console.
AWS has EU and UK regions, so your server and your data can stay there. But Amazon is a US company. If your organisation has sovereignty or data protection requirements, check with your own advisers that AWS meets them. This is not legal advice.
At a glance

Machine: an m7i.2xlarge (8 vCPU, 32 GB), for example in London (eu-west-2).
Prices are on-demand, monthly and exclude VAT, as published on 5 October 2026 (AWS m7i.2xlarge pricing (Vantage)). Providers change their prices; check before you buy.
This describes how installing Moorhold yourself will work. Three pieces are still being built: the installer, the access keys and the first-run steps in the portal. Until they are ready, we install Moorhold for you: see Have us install it.
How it will work
Get an access key
See Get an access key.
Launch an instance
In the EC2 console, choose your region, then Launch instance. Choose the Ubuntu 24.04 image and the m7i.2xlarge type, with at least 60 GB of disk.
Allow web traffic
In the security group, allow HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443) from the internet, so people can reach Moorhold and the server can get its certificate. You do not need to allow SSH.
Paste the cloud config
Under Advanced details, paste this into User data, then launch:
#cloud-config # Moorhold installer. Replace every value in angle brackets. runcmd: - [sh, -c, "curl -fsSL https://get.moorhold.dev/install-<version>.sh -o /tmp/moorhold-install.sh"] - [sh, -c, "echo '<published sha256> /tmp/moorhold-install.sh' | sha256sum -c -"] - [sh, -c, "MOORHOLD_ACCESS_KEY='<your access key>' MOORHOLD_HOSTNAME='<data.yourorg.example>' MOORHOLD_ADMIN_EMAIL='<you@yourorg.example>' sh /tmp/moorhold-install.sh --profile full"]The installer is pinned to one version and checked against its published checksum before it runs. It is not available yet: the version and checksum will be published with the first release. Give it a fixed address
Allocate an Elastic IP and associate it with the instance, so its address does not change when it restarts.
Point your domain at it, and open Moorhold
As in the guide, from step 2.
If you get stuck, email hello@moorhold.dev and say which step you reached. Please do not send passwords, keys or other secrets.
